Qualified Carder of Academic and Non-Academic Staff of Both Local and Japanese Native

Our languages faculty has established a unique method of teaching and communication involving experienced teachers who give the students a clear insight into the learning of languages as well as an understanding of the particular cultures, customs, manners and habits. The students also have opportunities to converse with native speakers of the language concerned to build up their self confidence in using a foreign language.

Well – Equipped Cultural Training Centre

In the 21st century the concept of globalization has narrowed the world from a global village to a global family. But still, ‘language’ is a barrier when making the above concept of ‘global family’ into a reality. When the practical aspect of globalization is taken into consideration, it is very important to have mutual understanding among the different cultures and customs. This can only be achieved through a positive exchange of language. Languages bridge countries and their people. For example, for speaking the Japanese language meaningfully, a good understanding of the Japanese people and their culture is required. This is because language is always connected with people’s feelings and their living. This applies to all languages.

Jizo Bosatsu statue is an icon of Japanese culture. Two monks from Kyoto were kind enough to bring the statue over to Sputnik. Jiso Bosatsu statue is installed in the Sputnik premises that gives true Japanese cultural Environment for Japanese studying students.

Resourced Library with Both Lending and Reference Facilities 

Sputnik International Library consists of 3 sections; Lending, Reference and News Papers. The library service is rendered to both internal students and the general public. English, Sinhala and Tamil books are classified under the latest Dev classification. Japanese books have their unique classification method. The library is closed only on Fridays and the working hours are from 9.00am. till 5.00pm.

Boys’ Hostel: The Boys’ hostel is situated inside the premises of the SIEC. Residents who are provided the 3 main meals each day plus morning and afternoon tea on request. Among the other services available to hostel residents are the sports ground, the gym, recreational facilities and the library service.

Girls’ Hostel: The Girls’ Hostel is situated 1.5km east to SIEC. It also provides 3 main meals each day plus morning and afternoon tea on request. The girls’ hostel has a matron and is secured with a security guard twenty four hours every day. The sports ground, recreational and library facilities are also available.
